- During the prescreen and the live auditions the singers will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Coloratura Technique
- Length and difficulty of coloratura passages
- Accuracy and excellence of intonation
- Mastery must be demonstrated on all repertoire selections offered
Beauty/ Quality of Tone
- Beautiful clear timbre, focused, not breathy
- Negotiates passaggio well
- Sound is not pushed or manufactured
Communication
- Excellent diction
- Performer clearly understands every word they sing
- The text is interpreted in a sensitive manner
Musicianship
- Sensitive use of dynamics
- Excellent rhythm & tempo
- Phrasing follows the text and makes sense vocally
- Awareness of interaction with accompanist
Stage Presence
- Overall impression of performer
